Overview
Mental Aspect is designed to be a private space for reflection. This policy describes what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Mental Aspect mobile app and website.
Data Collection
We collect only what's needed to run the service: account details you provide (email, display name), the reflections and check-ins you save, app preferences (reminders, appearance), and basic device information for diagnostics. We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone audio.
Authentication
Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider using industry-standard OAuth flows for Apple and Google, or email and password. Your password is never stored in plain text and never visible to us.
Journal Entries
Journal entries and reflections are yours. They are stored on your device and, if you sign in, encrypted in transit and stored in your private cloud account. Only you can read them.
AI Processing
When you request an AI insight, the text of that entry is sent to our language-model provider to generate a short summary. Entries are used only to produce your response and are not used to train third-party models. AI responses are stored alongside your entry so we don't reprocess them.
Cloud Sync
If you're signed in, your journal, streaks, bookmarks, and settings sync across your devices. Data is transmitted over TLS and stored with row-level access controls so no other user can read it.
Analytics
With your permission we collect anonymous usage analytics — screens viewed, feature usage, crash reports — to improve the product. You can turn analytics off at any time in Profile → Privacy. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Data Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for cloud storage, and role-based access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your reflections.
User Rights
You can export your data at any time from Profile → Data & Export. You can erase local data from the same screen. To delete your cloud account and all associated data, email support@mentalaspect.net from your account address — we'll process the request within 30 days.
Children
Mental Aspect is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If we update this policy we'll post the new version here and, when the change is material, notify you in the app.
